Politics London: Autistic and OK programme

 

Autistic youth advisor, Rebecca, and our Director of External Affairs and Development, Danae Leaman-Hill, featured in a political report broadcast on BBC London News.

The report spoke about the prevalence of mental health issues among autistic young people and how, in response, we have launched Autistic and OK - the free-schools mental health programme, which aims to prevent autistic students reaching crisis point.

Autistic pupils in England denied right to education as absenteeism surges, says charity

“These numbers prove that England has a broken educational system,” said Jolanta Lasota, the charity’s chief executive. “These children are being forced into absenteeism, which is the start of exclusion. It’s not a choice they’re making: they want to be in school but are being forced to stay away because their mental health needs are not being met.”

A dog owner making their debut at Crufts has praised their pet for opening up their world.

Keesha, 25 from Salisbury in Wiltshire was diagnosed as autistic in their early 20s. She owns one-year-old coonhound, Ephraim.
