The father of a 10-year-old autistic boy has tattooed the alphabet on to his arm so that he can always communicate with his non-speaking son.

New hoist makes beach accessible to all

On a caravan holiday, Shane Robins has plans to visit beauty spots, but going to the beach has been all-but impossible.

Mr Robins uses a wheelchair and said being left on the prom while his family enjoys the seaside has felt "frustrating" and "degrading".

Now, a mobile hoist has been installed in Denbighshire's seaside resort of Rhyl, allowing wheelchair uses to be transferred into a specialised beach wheelchair.

Funding for organisation to support autistic girls

A Surrey organisation has received funding to help address the social isolation experienced by autistic girls.

Appeer CIC, based in Woking, has received £49,999 from Surrey County Council’s (SCC) Mental Health Investment Fund.

Cafe gives skills to people with learning difficulties

A partnership between the hospital catering department and a Jersey charity is giving people with learning difficulties or autism some work experience.

Staff from Health and Community Services have been helping people from Beresford Street Kitchen (BSK) gain skills working with customers and serving food at the Thyme Out cafe in the hospital.
