Girlguiding Connect Information Sessions

Dates: Thursday 5 December (7.30pm); Sunday 8 December (3pm); Monday 9 December (5pm)

Girlguiding Connect is a virtual guiding unit for girls aged 4 to 18 in London and the South East, with dedicated groups for Guides (10-14) and Rangers (14-18). It offers a safe, inclusive space for those who are unable to attend in-person meetings due to reasons such as medical conditions, anxiety, or social challenges.

Call for Participants: Research on Life Changes After Difficult Events

Luke, a doctoral researcher from the University of Leeds, is conducting a study to explore how people with learning disabilities experience and cope with distressing events. This research aims to improve understanding and support for people with learning disabilities. 

Adults aged 18 and over with a learning disability are invited to take part in a one-hour interview, which can be conducted either online or in person. Participants will receive a £25 voucher as a thank-you.

Discovery Project at Cardiff University

Discovery is a programme for autistic young people in Years 9-11 and Year 12+ to explore university life. Through six weekly sessions on campus at Cardiff University, participants will learn from current students about what it's like to study at university. The programme runs on Tuesday evenings from 4 February to 18 March 2025. No formal autism diagnosis is needed, and parents or guardians are welcome to attend alongside participants.

Opportunity: Join the OfS Student Interest Board

The Office for Students (OfS) is inviting applications for its new Student Interest Board, which will replace the current Student Panel. This committee will bring together students, SU officers, university staff, and others to provide direct insight into the key issues affecting students.

The board will play a critical role in shaping the OfS’s work, ensuring diverse voices and experiences inform decisions that impact students across the country.

Call for Participants: Social Media and Special Interests

Researchers at Queen Mary University of London are looking for particpants for the Autism in Affinity Spaces study.  The study aims to explore how autistic young people use social media for enganging with areas of intense or special interest (e.g., joining roups dedicated t your inersting, sharing photos about your interest etc.). Autistic people aged 16 to 25 who are living in the UK are eligible to take part. They are particularly keen to hear from young people aged 16 to 19, men and non-binary people, individuals from BAME (Blac, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) backrgounds, and non-speaking or low-speaking autistic indidvoduals.
