Worcester man raises money for autism charity with London Marathon run

Alex Hales, 24, took on the 26.2-mile challenge on Sunday (April 27), finishing in an impressive four hours and 58 minutes.

He raised almost £1,250 for Ambitious about Autism.

Dad 'overwhelmed' by response to son's sensory coat

A dad who designed a sensory coat to help his autistic son has said he has been "overwhelmed" by the public response.

John Rudd, 47, from Walkden, created the coat for his son Charlie, 13, who was diagnosed with autism when he was nine.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4′s Autism Curve this month, Francesca Happé, a professor of cognitive neuroscience at King’s College London, said: “An increasing number of people are choosing to self-identify [as neurodivergent] without seeking a diagnosis.”

As a result, she says, “we may well already be at a point where there are more neurodivergent self-identified people than neurotypical people.”
